Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressings are topical wound dressings impregnated with an ointment containing 10% Povidone Iodine; equivalent to 1.0% available iodine. The dressing also consists of a low adherent knitted viscose fabric impregnated with a polyethylene glycol (PEG) base.

Iodine is a highly effective topical antimicrobial that has been used clinically in the treatment of wounds for more than 170 years. It has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity with efficacy against bacteria, microbacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses. The Povidone Iodine molecule has a broad spectrum antimicrobial action and has been proven to be effective against MRSA.

Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressings minimise adherence to the wound bed, therefore reducing the risk of damage to the granulation tissue at dressing removal, and in clinical practice has been shown to reduce pain for patients.

Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressings are designed to protect the wound, even if infected. The Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressings are indicated for the management of ulcerative wounds and may also be used for the prevention of infection in minor burns and minor traumatic skin loss injuries.

Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressings provide a long lasting antiseptic effect, which helps manage infection b bacterial, protozoal and fungal organisms over a period of time. It is suitable for use in adults and children. In heavily infected wounds, it may also be used in conjunction with systematic antibiotics.

As PVP?I is released, the Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressings will change colour from orange to white. The colour change provides an indicator of how frequently dressings should be changed preventing unnecessary dressing changes, when compared to other dressings. This could improve cost effectiveness in treatment. Uses
Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressings are used to manage ulcerative wounds and may also be used for the prevention of infection in Minor burns or Minor traumatic skin loss injuries.

Clinical studies suggest that Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressings may also be an appropriate dressing choice in the management of chronic wounds, including Ulcers deriving from different aetiologies, Diabetic foot ulcers and Pressure ulcers.

Application
Prepare the wound according to wound management protocol.
Ensure skin surrounding the wound is dry.
Peel open the package and remove the Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressing with sterile forceps.
Remove the first backing paper.
Peel off the dressing from the remaining backing paper and apply it directly to the wound.
Cover and secure with a secondary dressing of choice.
Dressing change and removal:
It is essential for proper wound management to avoid trauma to the intact skin.
When the Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressing turns white this indicates loss of antiseptic efficacy and therefore the dressing should be changed. It may be changed up to two times daily in the initial phase or with highly infected wounds or wounds producing large amounts of exudate.
Removal may be helped by gentle scratching of the dressing at diagonally opposite corners.
