Viralief Cream is used to treat cold sores caused by the herpes simplex virus How does Viralief Cream work? If used early enough, Aciclovir (the active ingredient in Viralief) has been shown to stop cold sores developing and speed up the healing of cold sore blisters. Aciclovir works by slowing down the virus. Viralief Cream should be used as soon as possible after the first symptoms of infection appear ? the symptoms are usually a tingling or itching sensation. Viralief should be used at this tingling stage, or just as the blisters appear.

The cream ought to be used for 5 days. If the infection has not healed after this time, treatment can be continued for up to 5 more days.
